We are currently holding monthly Zoom Meetings that are open to everyone, and all are welcome. To be able to join in you will need to be on our email contact list and you will be sent the link just before the time of the meeting. The details of all the zoom meetings for the year are shown below.

Times and ‘Themes’ are subject to change and members can volunteer to do presentations and request outings etc, for approval.

Zoom Meeting

A zoom meeting will be held for the results of the November Competition ‘Still Life’  Judged by Laura Woods.

Our competitions, with their critiques, help to show you how a photograph might be improved. If you would like some help with improving a photograph, but don’t want to enter a competition, you can submit it for suggestions by our members at a zoom meeting.

All members can join in both our competitions and zoom meetings, along with family and friends as well.

The theme for this month’s competition is: Generations.

Generational photography is the sequential chronicling of families. As the name suggests, it often involves having many generations of one’s immediate and extended family in a single photograph

The theme for this month’s competition is: Abstract.

An abstract photograph may isolate a fragment of a natural scene in order to remove its inherent context from the viewer, it may be purposely staged to create a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects, or it may involve the use of colour, light, shadow, texture, shape and/or form to convey a feeling, sensation or impression

The theme for this month’s competition is: Street Photography.
 
Street photography, also sometimes called candid photography, is photography conducted for art or enquiry
that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places.

April 2023 Competition

The theme for this month’s competition is: Sports and Action

Sports photography is a type of photography that covers every sport and sporting event, capturing the action of a game and behind the scenes of the players. This type of photography helps to promote brands, the players, as well as the sport.

May 2023 Competition

The theme for this month’s competition is: Nighttime

Nighttime photography refers to the activity of capturing images outdoors at night, between dusk and dawn.
Photographers generally have a choice between using artificial lighting and using a long exposure, exposing the shot for seconds, minutes, or even hours in order to capture the required image. Long exposure times may also allow the camera to capture images that the human eye can’t see

June 2023 Competition

The theme for this month’s competition is: Light, Glorious Light

Light is a fundamental part of photography. Photographers use light in their photographic compositions, sometimes taking advantage of the natural light of their surroundings and other times manipulating light sources to achieve the desired lighting effect. Different types of lighting can be used in order to create the effect you want. The two main types of light that photographers use are natural and artificial light.

The theme for this month’s competition is: Motion

Movement in photography simply refers to elements of a photo that are moving or appear to be moving. For
example, you can portray movement in many different ways and the moving element of the image can be either sharp or blurred.

August 2023 Competition

The theme for this month’s competition is: Concerts or Events

Concert or event photography is the photography of musical concerts and other live performances or events.
This genre of photography includes, but is not limited to, photographing musicians performing any genre of music, live dance performances, and live comedy shows. This genre of photography excludes portraits of musicians and other photos taken outside of the context of a live performance.
