I have been an avid photographer for 60 years, but it’s never been my paid employment. I primarily conduct aviation action photography but also enjoy photographing wildlife, vintage vehicles, steam trains and landscape / architecture etc. For many years I processed my black and white film images plus printing and enlarging. I shifted to colour slide film before moved into digital photography.

I have only ever entered one photo competition! This was in the 1970s, when I was fortunate to be awarded a prize winner in an aviation action photography competition run by the magazine ‘Amateur Photographer’. This spurred me into submitting images for publication in various media alongside my writing. Since 1971 I have been fortunate to have had a vast number of photos published in aviation magazines (in the UK and several foreign counties), books, websites, calendars, and advertisements. In 2023 I was honoured to receive a trophy from the Royal Aero Club as Sport Aviation Journalist of the Year (2022). I have been Editor of ‘Vintage & Classic’ which is the magazine of the Vintage Aircraft Club for the last six years.
